Fancy joining Purplefish? Find out what our PR execs like about working here

Here at Purplefish, we are on the lookout for superstar PR account managers and account executives to join our team.

If you’re interested in working for us, you may be wondering what it’s like, so we sat down with our Purplefish account executives to ask them that very question.

Here’s what Jack and Jon think about life at Purplefish, from their day to day responsibilities to their greatest achievements at the agency.

Jack, Jon, how long have you been at Purplefish?

Jack: I’ve been at Purplefish for a year now, previously I worked in a digital marketing role for a global motorcycle brand and have an undergraduate degree in advertising and marketing communications.

Jon: I joined the agency this summer as part of an internship scheme, prior to joining I completed an undergraduate degree in media and culture practice at the University of the West of England.

What do you do as part of your role?

Jack: A big part of my role is liaising with media and writing content that can be used across different channels – from print, online and social. I also attend client update meetings and planning sessions, helping to then deliver account work and client campaigns as part of a bigger account team.

Jon: My focus changes from day to day depending on the client and the project, mostly consists of pitching stories to the media or working on social media content.

What do you like most about your role?

Jack: The sheer variety of tasks and projects that I work on mean that no two days are the same. One day I’ll be helping to plan a launch campaign for a new brand, product or service, and the next day is all about securing profile opportunities and interviews for clients – I really enjoy learning about different business sectors that clients operate in and putting that to use for their communications activity. Being an account executive, you learn quickly how to work across different accounts and prioritise work on a daily and weekly basis

Jon: I really enjoy being key in generating media coverage for clients. As part of my role, I also support the marketing and social media activity for Purplefish – it’s great to help the agency boost brand awareness with existing and potential new clients.

What do you like most about Purplefish?

Jack: Purplefish is a fantastic agency, there is a real family feel and we genuinely all get on and work well together!

We all have our own specialities and areas of expertise and we regularly help each other with projects and tasks. The variety and size of businesses we work with relative to us is testament to our fantastic team and high quality of output.

Jon: The Purplefish team is really supportive which I think is core to our success. As well as being home to a welcoming team, they are always open to new ideas that will not only benefit the agency but the wider public relations industry.

Inclusion and representation are areas of which I am extremely passionate about and Purplefish is taking steps to promote these areas.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?

Jack: My greatest achievement has been my involvement in new business pitches. The team believed in my professionalism and capabilities at an early stage and I have been a part of numerous planning sessions and pitches during my time here. I can proudly say that some of my ideas have played a part in us to winning new accounts and grateful for the opportunities the team at Purplefish have given me at such an early stage in my career.

Jon: During my time with the agency, my greatest achievement has been my involvement in Bristol’s iconic St Pauls Carnival. Being a regular carnival attendee, I was thrilled to be on the Carnival PR team, handling the social media and monitoring in the lead up to and during Carnival. It helped me to support the celebration of Afro-Caribbean culture whilst giving back to the community.
